Preparing for Higher Math (57-60%) This category covers the more recent mathematics that students are learning, starting with algebra, as a general way of expressing and solving equations. The emphasis of these questions is number and quantity (7-10%), Algebra (12-15%), Functions (12-15%), Geometry (12-15%), and Statistics and Probability (8-12%)
Integrating Essential Skills (40-43%) This category evaluates how well the student synthesizes and applies their understanding and skills to solve more complex problems. The emphasis of these questions is on rates and percentages; proportional relationships; area, surface area, and volume; average and median; and expressing numbers in different ways.
Modeling questions involve producing, interpreting, understanding, evaluating, and improving models. These questions are incorporated into the other mathematical question areas. Modeling questions evaluate how well the student uses modeling skills across mathematical topics.
