Hi, I'm Judy

As a former middle and high school science teacher and homeschool mama of 4 kids, I have seen firsthand the need for strategic college planning and preparation for college-bound students.  When my own kids were starting high school as homeschoolers, I realized that we did not have a guidance counselor to carry that load for us or show us what to do.  I was the one who would need to guide our students through the process.  To be honest, that scared me a little bit, but ignoring the issue was not an option.  As a middle-class family, we could not afford to just write a check for college and we did not want our kids or us to take on a lot of college debt.  There was no way I was going to let our kids miss out on following their dreams and the callings on their lives, so I researched and studied up and learned what needed to be done to position them well for college admissions and scholarships.  I made some mistakes along the way, but I learned a lot.  In the end, all 4 of our kids earned college degrees of one level or another, graduated without any undergraduate debt, and are now gainfully employed young adults and thriving.  One is even working on his Ph.D. in Computer Science.

Over many years of helping my own kids and advising other families of college-bound students, I've developed methods to help families navigate the often confusing and complex college admissions and scholarship process and strategies to help students stand out and distinguish themselves.

Hi!  I'm Judy.  My husband, Philip, and I have been married for over 33 years.  I am Mom to 4 amazing young adults and a college prep advisor.  We are a family of STEM nerds and we love it! By training, my husband and I are both Health Physicists.  I have a M.S. in Radiological Health Engineering and a M.S. in Health Physics, both from Texas A&M University.  I've taught on the university level, subbed for practically every grade level in public and private schools, taught middle and high school science in a private school, and homeschooled my own kids for 17 years.  I am a pastor's wife and Bible study leader, pediatric cancer advocate, and the founder of College PrepXcel.

My heart is to help all college-bound students to reach their academic goals and preferably, to do it without taking on a lot of college debt.  Along the way, I hope to help my students recognize their uniqueness and learn life skills that will carry them far beyond high school or college.  I have a special interest in serving the homeschool community, because I have lived the blessings and the challenges of educating our children at home.
